Remind me later that at some point in time, at a moment when she least
expects it, that I need to find a way to repay my partner in crime, Lisa Bilbrey, for
doing this to me.
So, I have been tagged in the WIP Blog Hop.
***Answer the ten questions about
your current WIP (Work In Progress) on your blog
***Tag five other writers/bloggers
and add their links so we can hop over and meet them.
It’s that simple.
What is the working title of your
book?
I actually
have several WIPs, however the one that is the closest to completion is Southern Summer Nights.
Where did the idea come from for the
book?
I live in Virginia
Beach, where the book is set, and over the years, I have seen college romances
come and go, most of them played out on the boardwalk at the Oceanfront. Since I never had the opportunity to have one of my own, I decided to create a college romance.

What genre does your book fall
under?
Oh, it is
definitely contemporary romance – there isn’t any other way to describe it.
Which actors would you choose to
play your characters in a movie rendition?
I have
actually picked actors to help me visualize my characters –
Bryce Trainor played by Joe Manganiello |
Raina Gabriel played by Kristin Cavallari |
Melissa Laird played by Alyssa Milano |
Matt Lawson played by Joseph Gordon Levitt |
What is the one-sentence synopsis of
your book?
Sheesh! This
one is a little harder. I have actually been wracking my brain for weeks,
trying to come up with a good tagline for this story.
Falling in
love is as simple as letting your heart go.
Will your book be self-published or
represented by an agency?
My book
will be published through Renaissance Romance Publishing, a house I own with
two friends- Lisa Bilbrey and Michele Richard, That is, if they accept my
manuscript.
How long did it take you to write
the first draft of your manuscript?
The first
draft is still being worked on; however the first 32K that is done took me
approximately six weeks to write.
What other books would you compare
this story to within your genre?
It’s just
your typical summer romance. According to those who have read most of the first
draft, it would be much like Nicholas Sparks’ books, or even more so, the beginning
of the movie Grease- when Danny
and Sandy meet at the beach.
Who or What inspired you to write
this book?
I would say the biggest things that inspired me are where I live and the many young couples I see on a regular basis.
Honestly, I've seen so many failed relationships, I wanted to write one that from
the beginning looked doomed, but had a chance to overcome the obvious pitfalls.
What else about your book might
pique the reader’s interest?
While it
is a contemporary romance, and I truly still believe in happy endings, my
story, just like every good fairy tale and happy ending, has trials and
tribulations that have to be over come first.
